Our Owners
Welcome to Aqua Gems Swim School! This local business was established in 2023 by co-owners Grace, Kyla, and Shanelle. This school was created to ensure that all people in our community have the opportunity to flourish through swimming. Lessons started in Backyard Pools but has recently expanded to indoor facilities to ensure lessons for all seasons. All of our instructors have over 10+ years experience together teaching swimming and working with kids within the London, Ontario community. Our co-owners are currently completing or recently finished their studies at Western University.
“My name is Kyla Romero and I am part owner of Aqua Gems Swim School. Growing up in London Ontario I was introduced to competitive swimming at a very young age and instantly fell in love with the chlorine. Competing for 12 years pushed me to want to provide swimming abilities to individuals that struggle more in the water, and I began teaching. I have been teaching swimming lessons for the last 10 years with my certifications: National Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, and Fundamentals of Swimming 101. It is in my best interest to keep providing lessons to children and adults, to teach them how to swim properly, safely, and building confidence within our communities."
“Hello Swimmers! My name is Shanelle and I am a proud, part owner of Aqua Gems Swim School. My journey with swimming began at an early age that sparked a lifelong passion which led me to teaching. I’ve earned 4 years of experience teaching and my National Lifeguard and First aid certifications, which have given me the knowledge to provide the best swimming experience for anyone. At Aqua Gems Swim School, I am committed to creating a welcoming environment for all individuals of any age to learn, grow, and enjoy their time in the water while also practicing water safety. My goal is to help each individual develop confidence in the water and build strong swimming skills. I look forward to being a part of your swimming adventure!"
